OUR IMPACT

2019

Be the change you wish to see

February 2019 - First Giving

$17,000

Family Promise of Summit County helps provide temporary housing to homeless families with young children who are awaiting shelter. The best way to heal a family is to keep them together (furry friends and all!). The grant will enable them to triple their efforts in Summit County by opening Glendora House in West Akron. This community shelter home will mitigate additional trauma by keeping children in their current schools and providing additional programming and counsel.

International Institute of Akron welcomes immigrants and refugees to Akron and helps them to integrate into the community to make it their home. Their mission is to contribute to the well-being of our community by creating and implementing programs that assist low-income immigrant men, women and children to adapt to life in the U.S.

GiGi’s Playhouse exists to change the way the world
views Down syndrome and send a message of global acceptance for all! Gigi’s Playhouse provides free educational, therapeutic and support programs to increase positive awareness of Down syndrome and empower individuals, their families and their community.

September 2019 - Second Giving

$30,000

The mission of Edna House is to support women as they recover from alcohol and drug addiction by providing a safe, sober place to live and to learn life skills in order to maintain sobriety throughout their lifetime. The grant will permit them to complete a much-needed bathroom renovation by expanding the three showers that currently serve over 47 women.

AxessPoint Community Health Center has a vision where there is access to quality, community-based primary care available to all. The Arlington Road also offers fresh, healthy food and personal care items for the underserved in the Akron area.

The Highlands - Shelter Care  is currently the only licensed residential teen pregnancy shelter in the state of Ohio, providing critical services to homeless and at-risk pregnant or parenting teens, ages 14-21, and their babies. They embrace young women during one of the most transformative times in their lives as expectant and new mothers.

November 2019 - Tangible Giving

Our annual Tangible Giving Event provides a selected charity with not a monetary gift, but instead, everyday items that the people they serve can actually touch. Ironically, the most touching part of the event is seeing the generosity of our members.

Our selected charitable partner in November 2019 was Women’s Re-entry Ministry of Cleveland. This organization serves women in crisis during transition from incarceration back into the community. We can become stronger with each others’ support!
