OUR

impact

Be the change you wish to see.

Any night of friendship and philanthropy is meaningful, but there was something especially significant about our event at Highfields. After a year that challenged everyone in so many ways, joining together in a spirit of gratitude and giving seemed -- appropriate to our natural setting for the night -- incredibly grounding. We even had a surprise visit by a fawn, who according to legend, symbolizes connectivity. We felt incredibly connected!

During the event, we heard from three amazing organizations who reminded us that we don’t have to look very far beyond our pretty backyard to find issues and needs that can be hard to face. It was thrilling to spread our $30,000 donation across three finalist organizations, with Shelter Care/Street Outreach Services receiving the lead gift of $20,000, based on our votes. Street Outreach Services assists at-risk and homeless young adults ages 16-24 through street-based outreach and the operation of a drop-in center in Cuyahoga Falls. Finalists Bulldog Bags and Forget-Me-Not Baskets also gave compelling overviews of their organizations and were awarded $5,000 each.

Our Second Giving of 2021 was the 6th giving event in our three year history as an organization. It was as moving - maybe even more so - than ever, deeply affirming our mission to make an impact in our community through the collective power of women.

The setting was gorgeous and catching up with friends is always fun, but the causes trumped everything. We made our largest gifts ever, totaling $35,000, thanks to your generosity.

Rape Crisis Center was awarded the top gift of $25,000. Who will forget Terri’s powerful presentation and tearful award acceptance? Thank you to RCC for its impassioned advocacy work on behalf of families impacted by sexual violence.

A Kid Again and Chair-ity received $5,000 gifts. A Kid Again fosters hope and adventure for families facing critical illness. Chair-ity gives young adults who are aging out of the foster system a foundation as they begin independent living.

The night also marked another milestone we should all celebrate; we reached the 300 member mark! Our gratitude is deep and sincere, and punctuated by so much excitement about what lies ahead for 100 Women Strong OHIO.
